Results

1. Satoshi Kojima vs. Shelton “X” Benjamin
Satoshi Kojima over Benjamin with the Lariat. Good match, but Ustream dropped out midway through. I’ll just assume what we missed was also good.

2. Toru Yano vs. Lance Archer
Archer defeated Yano with Blackout. Fine match. The usual Yano shenanigans. Sometimes they work, sometimes they dont.

3. Yujiro Takahashi vs. “The Machine Gun” Karl Anderson
Anderson reversed the Miami Shine into a Gun Stun for the win. Good match between the two Bullet Club buddies.

4. Davey Boy Smith Jr. vs. Doc Gallows
Good match between the two big men. Davey beat Gallows with the Sharpshooter. It should be noted that Davey was flexing his bicep while he had Gallows in the sharpshooter. Because muscles?
Davey won the crowd over early, despite clearly being a heel, with a very long standing vertical suplex on Gallows. He flexed his bicep during that move also.

5. Hiroyoshi Tenzan vs. Hirooki Goto
So great. Tezan beat Goto with an Anaconda Slam and the Anaconda vice. TEnzan’s best match of the tournament. He must be hurting, but he’s still giving it his all. The crowd was super behind him.

6. Tomoaki Honma vs. Bad Luck Fale
Fale beat Honma with horrifying Bad Luck Fall. Honma landed dangerously high on his neck. The crowd was super behind Honma as ususal. They teased the surprise upset victory a couple of times, but eventually Fale got the win. Hopefully Honma’s not too banged up after that finish. The crowd fell almost completely silent at the end. It looked really bad.

7. Togi Makabe vs. Tetsuya Naito
What a wild match. Just balls to the wall from start to finish. Naito was tearing it up like nobody’s business, while at the same time the Tokyo crowd was booing him out of the building. Makabe picked up the win with the Spider German and King Kong Knee Drop. Great match.

8. Minoru Suzuki vs. A.J. Styles
Incredible match. Styles got the win with a Styles Clash after super hard hitting, punching, kicking and slapping affair. Big A.J. chants from the crowd after the match. There’s no doubting Styles is over with the New japan crowd after that performance. Easily Match of the Night so far, and contender for Best Match of the whole G-1. And it will be hard to top.

9. Yuji Nagata vs. Katsuyori Shibata
Man o’ man! Another awesome match. Nagata beat Shibata with a backdrop pin. Really stiff, hard hitting match. Surprised Nagata got the win.

10. Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Tomohiro Ishii
After a thousand Boma Ye, Nakamura picked up the win over Ishii. Super match. Ishii kicked out of maybe the second or third Boma ye after only a one count. Amazing action. Both guys raised each other’s hands and hugged after the match.
